one ymca
A small selection of website design and development work created for ONE YMCA. This portfolio highlights a range of custom built web pages, campaign landing pages, fundraising event pages and digital experiences developed to modernise and enhance the organisation’s online presence.
Working within WordPress, I designed, managed and developed website content using a mixture of front end design, custom coding and responsive layouts to create engaging and user friendly experiences. Many of the pages featured required bespoke solutions beyond the limitations of the existing platform, including interactive elements, animations, custom galleries, flip cards and structured content systems designed to improve usability and engagement.
The projects showcased throughout this portfolio demonstrate a combination of creative design and technical implementation, with a strong focus on accessibility, branding consistency and creating modern digital experiences for users across desktop and mobile devices.
design to support, built to inspire
Signpost website
The Signpost Counselling website was designed and developed as a standalone digital platform for ONE YMCA, created specifically to support the organisation’s counselling and therapeutic services for children and young people across Hertfordshire. As the project operated as a separate contract and service offering, the website needed to sit outside of the main ONE YMCA website while still feeling visually connected to the wider organisation and accessible through the existing digital ecosystem.
I was responsible for the full creative and technical delivery of the project, from the initial design concepts and branding direction through to the full WordPress build and implementation. The goal was to create a calm, approachable and supportive online experience that would feel safe and welcoming for young people, parents and professionals seeking support services.
The design focused on accessibility, clarity and ease of navigation, using soft colours, structured layouts and friendly imagery to make information easier to digest during what can often be difficult or emotional situations. Alongside the visual design, I implemented the complete website structure, page layouts, responsive functionality and custom content sections to ensure the site worked seamlessly across desktop and mobile devices.
The project also involved integrating service information, safeguarding content, referral pathways and therapy support sections into a user friendly experience that balanced professionalism with warmth and empathy. The final result was a fully functioning standalone website that successfully expanded ONE YMCA’s digital presence while maintaining a clear connection to the wider charity brand and mission.
ISVA Service Website
The ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) website was designed and developed as a dedicated mini website within the wider ONE YMCA digital ecosystem. The project required a careful balance between maintaining consistency with the ONE YMCA brand while also creating a distinct and sensitive identity for the ISVA service itself.
I was responsible for designing and implementing the website from concept through to the full WordPress build. The aim was to create a calm, supportive and easy to navigate experience for vulnerable users seeking help, information and reassurance during difficult circumstances. The visual direction intentionally used softer layouts, accessible typography and structured content sections to ensure the website felt approachable, safe and professional.
Although the site remained connected to the main ONE YMCA website, it needed to function as its own standalone service area with a clear identity and user journey. I worked to ensure the design remained coherent with the wider organisation branding while introducing a more focused and empathetic tone appropriate for the service.
The project included creating responsive page layouts, service information sections, referral pathways, support resources and clear calls to action, all designed to make information accessible and easy to understand across desktop and mobile devices. The final result was a dedicated digital platform that strengthened the visibility of the ISVA service while maintaining trust and continuity within the ONE YMCA brand.
Event Page Design & Development
As part of the ongoing development of the ONE YMCA website, I designed and built a series of bespoke event landing pages to promote fundraising events, charity campaigns and community activities. Working within the limitations of the existing website platform, I created custom coded solutions to make the pages more visually engaging, interactive and user friendly.
The pages were designed from scratch and included custom coded features such as animated flip cards, interactive sponsorship sections, responsive image galleries and dynamic information panels for dates, locations, ticket prices and event details. The aim was to present key information in a simple and accessible way while creating a more modern and engaging experience for users across desktop and mobile devices.
I also developed custom gallery layouts and content sections to move away from standard template based designs, helping each event feel unique while still remaining consistent with the ONE YMCA brand identity. The addition of motion, structured layouts and interactive elements helped improve usability and made the pages feel more immersive and professional.
These projects combined both design and front end development, allowing me to enhance the visual quality of the site through custom HTML, CSS and JavaScript while working within the constraints of WordPress. The final pages helped showcase events in a more impactful way and created a stronger digital experience for supporters, sponsors and attendees.
